Planning a trip to an all-inclusive in Mexico is exciting but ensuring you have everything you need can be a bit daunting. Whether you're planning to lounge on a beach or exploring ancient ruins, packing the right essentials can make all the difference. My Pack Like A Pro guide will help you prepare for a stress-free and enjoyable vacation, ensuring you have everything you need for a perfect getaway.
Clothing Essentials
Mexico's climate is HOT and humid, so packing lightweight, moisture-wicking clothing is essential to stay cool and comfortable. I have read some debate about wearing cotton. I also like to backpack and we have a saying, "Cotton Kills." Cotton will hold in the moisture. BUT I have read some people say cotton is preferable. I will have to leave that decision up to you! Personally, I love wearing maxi dresses—they are cute, comfortable and you can wear them into a nice restaurant for dinner or while lounging around the resort.
Footwear for Adventures
During our excursion to visit a cenote, I found out just how important it was to have good quality water shoes! They protect your feet from sharp rocks and also help you navigate slippery surfaces safely. I recommend looking for water shoes that are lightweight and designed to drain water efficiently. My husband forgot his water shoes and bought some at the resort. They were fine, but they did not drain well. I love being able to walk in and out of the water without worrying about my shoes!
Swimwear Tips
I prefer a cute sundress as a swimsuit cover-up because it allows you to grab a bite to eat without looking like you just came from the pool. Many all-inclusive resorts do have a dress code requiring no swimsuits in their restaurants during lunch, so this is a great option. It's both practical and stylish!
Be sure to pack at least two swimsuits for your all-inclusive trip to Mexico. The humidity can slow down the drying process, and there's nothing worse than having to put on a damp bathing suit!
Sun Protection and Bug Defense
Sunscreen and bug spray are essential items to pack for your trip! If you forget them, the resort will likely have them available, but at a steep price. While we weren't bothered by bugs at the resort, others were, so it's better to bring it and not need it. Pro Tip: Remember that sunscreen is not allowed in cenotes, so plan accordingly. The cenote we visited had showers everyone went under before entering the cenote.
Stylish Accessories
I brought two different hats with me on our all-inclusive trip to Mexico. A cute sun hat was perfect for taking pictures on the beach, while a ball cap was ideal for our excursion to the Tulum ruins. I also recommend bringing multiple hair ties. I lost the only one I had, but thankfully the resort had some to buy in the gift shop.
Conclusion
Packing for an all-inclusive to Mexico doesn't have to be overwhelming. These are a few essential items I found useful in Mexico at our all-inclusive. Click here if you would like to read my review of Paradisus La Perla.
